The activities you engage with regularly are normally things you enjoy and find energizing. You'll also find that you're naturally good at these things and that they engage your strengths. Adding creative projects to your artist expression can become your strong points on which you build your other skills and abilities. Here are a few ideas that just may spark a new side of your creativity:
Idea #1. Solve a problem with your creation/art – what do you wish your favorite shop had. The look of it – your way. The feel of it - your way. Putting your spin on an existing “type” of art that fills a need in the market can be huge. Art that fits in an area that is crazy big or oddly shaped. On the wall of your doctor’s waiting room or the top of the condiment counter at your favorite coffee shop.
Idea #2. Create a project that is a miniature version of the item that brings you joy to purchase, create or see. I created a tiny magnet filled with glitter that reminds me of the stars in the sky. What about sparkly jewelry (like a tiny city as a pendant) – your way. Or smaller canvases grouped together in a larger frame. Going tiny can fill your clients with awe at your ingenuity.

There's a lot of fish in the sea so if you want to stand out try these ideas:
Idea #3 Add tiny battery powered lights to the sides or top of your canvas or creation (or inside it). Do your research on the lights. Do you want to try battery powered string lights, waterproof flexible LED strip lights, or tiny lights that are remote controlled by a phone app. Let your mind wander over the possibilities.
"The artist is not a different kind of person, but every person is a different kind of artist" – Eric Gill (sculptor, type face designer)
Idea #4 Hide a silly signature item abstractly inside your art piece – like a scavenger hunt. Make a signature piece that tells a part of your personality or your story that may be a bit unique. Try places you have visited (Lake Huron or Yellowstone) or a rock added for each beach you went to on your vacation. Telling your story with your art can be a powerful item that many people will relate to.
Idea #5 Transform your smaller pieces of art into sculptures that sit on a wooden or metal base. Research a way to transform your medium into free standing sculptures (can your paint be hardened or shaped, can your papers be molded or coated to create a new form). The possibilities are endless. Big or small abstract sculptures are all around you…if you know where to look.

New creative ideas within your same signature style, can make you a very versatile artist in your target market. Clients will recognize your flare and be drawn to your work.
